"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."

                                                                                           -Helen Keller

Webster’s dictionary defines adventure as “an exciting or remarkable experience.”

To have an adventure does not mean traveling far from home. An adventure might be going out to dinner to a new restaurant by yourself. Or sleeping under the stars in your backyard. How about taking a class in something you’ve always wanted to learn? Going to open mike night at a local comedy club?

The possibilities are endless. And you don’t have to travel very far.

The point of an adventure is to lead you to a new place in your life. When you start the journey, the path you are going to follow is not totally mapped out. You are not sure where you are going to end up. You just know that you are going somewhere that you have never been.

A recent adventure that I have just embarked upon involved making a phone call to a local theatre company. When I was in high school, I belonged to the Drama Club and enjoyed acting in plays. Through the years, I have often thought longingly about joining a theatre group. I could always think of lots of excuses why it was the wrong time. I have always pushed the thought away. Not long ago, the thought popped into my head again. It was a nagging thought that wouldn’t go away. I tried again to push it away with excuses, but I kept coming back to “If it is meant to be, then it will all work out.” Needless to say, this adventure began with a phone call.

So, what are you waiting for? Shake off the dust and hit the road! Who knows where your adventure will take you?
